Our Best Bites in Lou and Lex

I inherited my palate for fine dining from my mom, and Matt says he inherited his from me.  Funny story actually - the following is dialogue from one of our experiences with pizza delivery from a chain restaurant after recently returning from Chicago (where deep dish pizza is sublime):

Matt - "Ugh! What is this?! My palate is too refined for this now."
Me - "Haha! I wonder who you get that from."
Matt - "You!"

Over the past few years, Matt and I have branched out from our hometowns to discover new and exciting restaurants in our state's bigger cities - Louisville and Lexington.  Here are some of our favorites!  (Click the name of the restaurant to be directed to their website)

Mesh - Louisville, KY

Mesh is one of the best brunch spots in the Ville! You can't go wrong with the crab cake eggs benedict or chicken & waffles. And if you've saved room for dessert, Matt and I couldn't get enough of their salted caramel pots de creme with oatmeal tuile!

Le Moo - Louisville, KY

Matt and I love Le Moo! We typically make reservations here for just about every occasion!  We start out with their wagyu pigs in a blanket for the appetizer, I order the salmon (which is to die for) and Matt gets one of their signature steaks.  And we always make room for dessert - their pecan pie cheesecake!

OBC Kitchen - Lexington, KY

Let's be honest, the real reason I first tried OBC Kitchen was because it's conveniently located to a signature Lilly Pulitzer store.  But I'm so glad I did!  Matt and I met up at this halfway mark while I was in nurse anesthetist school and had a fabulous dinner together. I loved their shrimp and grits and Matt indulged in their cola-braised short ribs.  Oh, and they also serve bacon in a glass as an appetizer!!

Blue Sushi Sake Grill - Lexington, KY

It should come as no surprise that one of our favorite bites in Lexington is in Summit at Fritz Farm, since this shopping center also hosts some of our favorite brands (Vineyard Vines, Brooks Brothers, Draper James, etc.).  If you're into sushi and small plates, this is the restaurant for you!  But one of our favorite bites by far was the mango crab rangoon.  The perfect mixture of sweet, spicy, soft, and crunchy. We could eat our weight in these!

If you have any suggestions on restaurants to try in Kentucky, let us know! We're always searching for more date night options!
